27 gauge
If you have trouble registering (veins move around or you have vein damage)
If you inject cocaine, pills, or other thick substances
If you often inject in a hurry
28, 29 gauge
If you’re pretty good at hitting a vein
If you can spend a little time finding a good vein
30 gauge
If you have no problem hitting a vein on the first try
Excellent for minimal scarring
31 gauge
Has better action, good for using if you have trouble registering
Will reduce chance of injecting through smaller veins
1cc vs. 1/2 cc
1cc is a larger barrel which makes it easier to go from site to site if you can’t keep a vein, use it if you have trouble registering
1/2cc is good if you need less room to register, for occasional users, or if you have fewer problems hitting a vein
